We Already Knew: The United States Hates Women

On Sunday, September 16th the Washington Post reported that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh was accused of sexually assaulting an acquaintance from high school. While the woman coming forward wished to continue to carry her trauma and its effects herself, her privacy was eroded by the media investigations despite Senator Dianne Feinstein’s attempts to honor the accuser’s request for anonymity.

Upon realizing that the accused Kavanaugh’s confirmation to the Supreme Court was all but fact, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford undertook the civic duty of protecting the citizens of the United States from a lifetime appointment of a man accused of a violent sexual assault. (More than so many elected officials are doing.) For that she will live with the threat of reprisal for the rest of her life, no different in some ways from living coping with the trauma of being violently assaulted as a 15-year-old girl or at any age.

Now we will hear from our peers, fellow citizens, about all of the reasons why Dr. Blasey Ford is untrustworthy. She waited too long. She doesn’t really remember the details. She didn’t report it before. She must want the attention.

We will also hear that it wasn’t a “real” sexual assault. It happened so many years ago in high school. She was drinking with them. She was wearing a bathing suit. He didn’t…
